Materials Needed for the Financial Planning Program
Course Books
Students are responsible for purchasing their textbooks. You can purchase the books through the BU Campus Store website or through your preferred retailer.
To find your books on the BU Campus Bookstore website:
- Navigate to the Find Course Materials page
- On the Term menu, select the correct term: “[Fall, Spring, or Summer] On Campus”
- Please note: You must select On Campus even though your course is online. This is how the BU Bookstore lists CPE courses
- On the Department menu, select CPE FP
- This menu is alphabetical. CPE is directly below COM
- On the Course # menu, select your course number (101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 109)
- On the Section menu, select OL
- Click “Retrieve Materials”
Computer Requirements
To complete the Financial Planning Certificate Program, students must have access to a desktop computer or laptop. We do not recommend that students use a tablet to complete coursework, as the Blackboard platform does not allow students to submit assignments or take exams (among other functions) using a tablet.

Financial Calculator
For this program, you’ll need access to an HP12C financial calculator. For more information, visit the Hewlett Packard website. This calculator can be purchased on the BU Campus Store website or from multiple retailers.
